Hailing from Los Angeles, rep·li·ka [ˈrɛplɪka] is an artist/photographer/musician who views his environment through various filters and angles. Rep Art comes from the simple premise, “art replicates life.” Comprised of images taken primarily on the Apple iPhone, he say's “the best camera is the one you got with you. My iPhone's my paintbrush.”
Rep is steeped in progression and pushing limits. Always looking to push the boundaries of how far an idea can be taken, Rep believes the only creative limitations are the ones we impose on ourselves. Growing up in the mecca of music/skate/street culture, Rep’s heavily inspired by works of contemporary artists and photographers citing his friend Risk Rock as a huge influence. "Hanging with Risky exposed me to an entirely new way of interpreting, processing, & presenting visual information." Rep also credits photographers Jim Marshall, Anton Corbin, Glen E. Friedman, & Craig Stecyk as visual influencers drawn to imagery he describes as "edgy, raw, & authentic."
Heavily inspired by music, Rep believes every image (or song) tells a story and conveys an energy. "I strive to make mine positive & worthwhile. If it moves me, I’m more than satisfied. If it happens to move others, I succeeded in my purpose to share and inspire the gift of art through photography & design.” Rep’s passion is to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone, push their own boundaries and explore an entirely new perspective on how they interpret their world. “Art is an amazing gift that everyone from all walks of life should experience. Creating not only expands our consciousness it enriches our lives.”
